David Cantens (°1980) graduated in 2002 as an actor at the Ghent Conservatory. He played in various TV- and filmproductions as an actor including De Luizenmoeder, Gevoel voor tumor, New Texas, Brabançonne, Over Water, Professor T, De Ridder, De Vijfhoek, Gent West, Coppers, Amigo's, Zone Stad, Aspe, Witse, Familie, Ella, Wittekerke and Flikken. His most famous role is the autistic Rudy Marsman in the TV series Marsman.
After various theatre productions at HETPALEIS, NTG and the Kopergietery, he played from 2004 - 2009 at Theater De Paardenkathedraal in Utrecht. He played in the plays De Vader, Bedrog, Tjsechov & Tsjechov and Closer. David then became part of the permanent core of De Spelerij, the theatre company of Paula Bangels, where he could be seen in Othello, Frederik, Vrijdag, Drie Zusters, La Musica 2 and Closer.
MUSIC
In his musical work, he tries to connect the sounds of minimal piano with cinematic and emotional elements.
He started playing the piano at the age of 6 and has been writing his own music since he was 17. After then, he composed the musical score for several theatre performances. In his music, David wants to tell pure, authentic and minimal stories.
